NATIONAL AFFAIRS
- The biggest Drone Festival of India was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharat Drone Mahotsav 2022, at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
❱ Under this programme, 500 blocks across states have been identified for quarterly ranking based on their performance in areas such as health, education and nutrition.
- LiFE - ‘Lifestyle for the Environment’ movement was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing during the 26th United Nations Climate Change (UNCC) Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland in 2021.
❱ A new acronym added in frameworks of EAST (this framework is used for behaviour change in connection with the environment and climate stands) is F where F stands for Fun. A new Framework is now FEAST(where E-Easy , A- Attractive , S- Social , and T- Timely)
- ‘Ghar Ke Upar Solar Is Super’ is launched by the National Solar Energy Federation of India in Karnataka to motivate the public for installing solar rooftops, with support from the German Solar Association.
- First-of-its kind Indian Air Force Heritage Centre in Chandigarh will be established with the help of the Indian Air Force & Chandigarh administration
- SHRESHTA- Scheme for Residential Education for Students in High Schools in Targeted Areas in Noida (U.P) by Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Dr Virendra Kumar for providing free access to high-quality education (from Class 9 to 12) to poor students from SC communities.
- Supreme Court of India has ordered that mining and construction of new permanent structures within an extended buffer zone, which is an Ecologically Sensitive Zone of radius 1- kilometre where national wildlife sanctuary or national park will not be permitted.
- For the conservation and restoration of a balanced ecosystem NTPC Limited Releases “Biodiversity Policy 2022”.
- Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India, the implementing agency of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana, has crossed a sales turnover of Rs 100 crores in May 2022(for the first time).
- ‘Road accidents in India — 2020’ prepared by the Transport Research Wing under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. As per the data released recently, traffic accidents declined by 18.47% on average.
❱ States that achieved reduction in road accidents in 2020 are Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Karnataka.
- National Mineral Congress was held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. During this event, the coal gasification target increased to 100 million tonnes (MT) by 2030 by the Government of India.

- An Indian logistics company i.e. Blue Dart Express Limited has signed the ‘Climate Neutral Now’ which is framed to ambitious CO2 reduction targets and to reduce GHG emissions to net zero by 2050 by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) to reduce.
- World’s 1st Nano Urea plant by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) at Kalol, Gujarat inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Therefore, India has now become the first country globally to start commercial production of Nano Urea.
- The First Lavender Festival of India is inaugurated in the Doda district of Jammu by Union Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Jitendra Singh.
- To supply ASTRA MARK (MK)-I, Beyond Visual Range, Air-to-Air Missile to the Indian Air Forceand Indian Navy. Ministry of Defence has inked a pact with Bharat Dynamics Limited.
- Project Vartak of Border Roads Organisation related to the excavation of the Nechiphu Tunnel in Arunachal Pradesh, which has been completed. The length of this tunnel is 500 meters.
- National AI Portal celebrates its second anniversary on 30 May 2022 on this occasion INDIAai released a book ‘AI for Everyone’.
- Maruti Suzuki India Limited has installed Asia’s largest 20-MegaWatt Peak carport-type solar power plant at its Manesar facility in Gurugram, Haryana.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced that India will achieve the target of 10% ethanol blending in Petrol 5 months ahead of the original schedule of November 2022.
- On the occasion of World Food Safety Day under the theme ‘Safer food, better health’ 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI) has been released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare through the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

- India and Poland have signed the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty on Criminal Matters. By this, Poland becomes the 45th country to sign an MLAT on criminal matters with New Delhi.
- NHAI created a new Guinness world record by constructing a 75 km single lane on NH53 between Amravati to Akola Districts (Maharashtra) in 105 hours and 33 minutes.
- Department of Biotechnology & the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has signed an MoU for developing new preventions, therapies and interventions to solve health (human and animal), food and nutritional inequities.
- National Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited & Indian Institute of Technology- Roorkee signed an MoU for sharing knowledge on innovative ideas and technologies in the field of highway engineering.
- MoU between India and the United Arab Emirates has been approved on Cooperation in the field of Industries and Advanced Technologies to strengthen and develop industries of both nations through investments, technology transfer and the deployment of key technologies in industries.
- MoU between the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affair, and the Government of Australia for Technical Cooperation for the Australia-India Water Security Initiative (AIWASI) which was signed in December 2021.
- Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare launched “Anocovax”, India’s first indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine for animals.
- Ministry of Science and Technology has set to launch a Rs 1000 crore fund under a Public-Private Partnership {PPP} model. Its objective is to invest in start-ups across several sectors.

- MoU between Telangana Government & Elest, a subsidiary of gold retailer Rajesh Exports for India’s first Display Fabrication Unit that will be set up in Hyderabad, Telangana.
- Indian Institute of Technology – Kanpur in collaboration with Telecommunications Standards Development Society, to organise a conclave on ‘Direct to Mobile and 5G Broadband – Convergence Roadmap for India’ at Akashvani Rang Bhawan auditorium of Prasar Bharati in New Delhi, Delhi.
- The National Air Sports Policy 2022 has been launched by Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, Ministry of Civil Aviation, to optimize India’s potential in the field of air sports. This is the First National Air sports Policy in India which aims to make India one of the top sports nations in the world by providing a sustainable air sports ecosystem by 2030

- The 38th India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) between the Indian Navy Units of Andaman & Nicobar Command and the Indonesian Navy had been exercised in the Andaman Sea and Straits of Malacca.

- Russia has overtaken Saudi Arabia to become India’s second-biggest oil supplier and Iraq is the top supplier to India, as Russian crude is currently available at discount following the war in Ukraine.
- The first train under the Indian Railways ‘Bharat Gaurav’ scheme was flagged off from the Coimbatore North railway station, Tamil Nadu to Sainagar Shirdi, Maharashtra. This is the first Private train service in India. It aims to enhance domestic tourism. Through this Southern Railway became the first Railway zone in Indian Railways to get the first registered service provider under the “Bharat Gaurav” scheme.
- Operation Mahila Suraksha, by the Railway Protection Force, has rescued 150 women, including many girls, from becoming victims of human trafficking.
- Himachal Pradesh becomes the 1st Indian State to Approve Policy for Drones i.e. ‘Himachal Pradesh Drone Policy 2022’.
- India-Israel celebrates the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations. India and Israel adopted the “Vision Statement” to strengthen the defence cooperation between India and Israel in the future.
- Baikho Festival celebrates in Assam for Good Harvest and Rain. The festival is predominately celebrated by the Rabha tribes

- Ministry of Education announced that the Government of India will set to establish “PM Shri Schools” which will be fully equipped to prepare the students for the future. These state-of-the-art schools will also act as a laboratory for the New National Education Policy - 2020.
- Prime Minister Narendra Modi has inaugurated the underground ‘Gallery of Revolutionaries’ Museum in Maharashtra’s Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. The underground gallery is established in World War-I British era bunkers, discovered at the Maharashtra Raj Bhavan campus in August 2016.

- As per the Bloomberg NEF report titled “Financing India’s 2030 Renewables Ambition”, published in collaboration with the Power Foundation of India, India will need $ 223 billion investment to achieve the goals of the wind and solar, capacity to 500 gigawatts (GW) by 2030. India aims to provide around 50% of its electricity demand from renewable energy by 2030

This report was released by the Ministry of Education. Sikar district of Rajasthan is the highest performing district for 2019-20 in school education.

- Maharashtra became India’s top sugar producer after five-year, followed by Uttar Pradesh in the lead-producing state.
- Tamil Nadu & India Post Payments Bank signed an MoU to provide life certificates of pensioners through the Postal Department’s Door Step Services.
- Project ‘NIGAH’ is an initiative to track containers by using ICTM (ICD Container Tracking Module) which will enable better visibility of the container movement inside the ICD (Inland Container Depot) inaugurated at Gurugram Haryana.

- ‘Kashi Yatra’ launched by the Karnataka government, the project provides Rs 5,000 cash assistance to each of the 30,000 pilgrims, who are willing to visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh.

❱ Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu has visited Gabon, Senegal and Qatar. This was India’s first visit to all three countries at the level of Vice President. In addition, this was India’s first-ever high-level visit to Gabon and Senegal.
❱ United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution on multilingualism, co-sponsored by India that mentioned the Hindi language for the first time. The resolution also mentions Bangla and Urdu for the first time.
❱ As per the semi-annual Report of the United States; Department of the Treasury – “Macroeconomic and Foreign Exchange Policies of Major Trading Partners of the United States”, India is one of the 12 major economies that merit deliberate attention to their currency practices and macroeconomic policies.
❱ Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation celebrated its 25th foundation Day i.e. Silver Jubilee Anniversary on 6th June 2022 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
❱ Defence Ministers of both India and Vietnam signed a contract the ‘Joint Vision Statement on India-Vietnam Defence Partnership towards 2030’ in Hanoi, Vietnam to further expand bilateral defence engagements.
❱ Israel signed a Free Trade Agreement with the United Arab Emirates, its first deal with an Arab country.
❱ The European Parliament has approved a proposal made by the European Commission in 2021 to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035.
❱ Start-up Genome launched the Global Start-up Ecosystem Report 2022 at London Tech Week in which Bengaluru has ranked 22nd as the “strongest startup ecosystem in India” on the global ranking, while Delhi ranked 26th and Mumbai is ranked 36.
❱ United States-based Coursera’s latest annual Global Skills Report 2022 reveals that India ranked at the 68th position globally and Asia’s 19th position in overall skills proficiency. Switzerland in the number has remained at no. 1 spot for the second consecutive year which is followed by Denmark, Indonesia, Belgium, and Singapore.
❱ The annual Global Trends Report released by the United Nations Refugee Agency, published in June 2022, highlight nearly 5 million people in India were internally displaced due to climate change and disasters in 2021.
❱ According to the Renewables 2022 Global Status Report has been published by the global renewable energy community REN21, India placed 3rd in the world.
❱ WTO’s 12th Ministerial Conference was held in Geneva, Switzerland; Co-hosted by Kazakhstan. It was chaired by Timur Suleimenov, the First Deputy Chief of Staff of Kazakhstan’s President.
❱ India hosted the 8th meeting of the Heads of Border Services of the competent authorities of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization-SCO
❱ Indira Gandhi International airport of Delhi is the Best in India as well as in South Asia for the 4th consecutive year at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Paris, France.
❱ A session of the Financial Action Task Force was held in Berlin, Pakistan will continue to be on the ‘Grey List’ of countries under increased monitoring of the FATF.
❱ “Mango Festival” in Brussels, Belgium inaugurated by Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has to raise awareness among Europeans and establish a market for Indian mangoes in Europe.
❱ As per the World Gold Council report ‘Gold refining and recycling,’ India got ranked 4th in global gold recycling in 2021 recycling 75 tonnes, 6.5 % of the total gold recycled across the globe.

- Abu Dhabi Investment Authority is set to invest Rs 2200 crore in IIFL Home Finance Limited for twenty per cent of its stake. This will be one of the largest equity investments in the affordable housing finance segment in India by a financial investor.
