What is the CUET Merit List 2023 Based On?

CUET 2023 Merit List will be based on various factors, such as the 10+2 scores of the candidate and the marks they have scored in the CUET 2023 Examination.

The weightage of 30% of the average of the marks secured by the candidate in the qualifying 10+2 examination and 70% of the marks secured by the candidates in the 2023 CUET Examination will be considered by most universities while preparing the final CUET Merit List 2023. Candidates with higher ranks will be listed at the top of the merit list, and the ranks will decrease as we go down the list.

According to news reports, the CUET 2023 Merit List will be prepared using a score-normalization technique keeping the percentile score in mind. It means that the percentile score will be used to convert the entrance test scores to a scale from 0 to 100, and the CUET Merit List 2023 will then be prepared using the percentile scores instead of the raw marks of the candidate.

The participating universities will prepare the CUET 2023 Merit List based on their criteria and the NTA score of the candidates. Candidates who have made it to the merit list can then opt to participate in the CUET 2023 Counselling session.

CUET Merit List 2023 Cut-Off Scores

CUET cut-off scores for admission to undergraduate programmes will be decided separately by the universities based on their criteria.

However, some universities may not release the cut-off scores for some reason. In this case, the university will only release the list of the names of the candidates in the university’s CUET Merit List 2023.

Unlike the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), the NTA does not publish cut-off scores for the CUET.

The CUET cut-off scores for UG programmes will differ for different universities and vary, even for the same courses.

Some of the factors that affect the cut-off scores of most universities participating in CUET 2023 are:

  • Level of Difficulty of the Examination
  • Total number of candidates that wrote the examination
  • Total number of university seats available
  • Seat reservation criteria (varies with the university)
  • Total number of qualified students
  • NTA scores of the candidates
  • Any cut-off trends from previous years

To check the cut-off score for your desired university, go to its official website and download the cut-off score list if it is available.
