Section A: 

Reading comprehension – 20 marks. This part includes two unseen passages and a poem.

Section B:

• Applied grammar – 8 Marks
• Creative writing – 20 Marks

Section C:

This section offers a mix of questions, such as multiple choice, objective, short answer, and long answer types. These will test your understanding, analysis, and ability to interpret and think beyond the text.

CBSE marking scheme for class 12 English core 2024-25

Section A: Reading comprehension

• You'll get one unseen passage to test your understanding, analysis, and interpretation skills. The vocabulary will also be tested. The passage could be factual, descriptive, or literary.
• There’s also a case-based passage with visual elements like data charts, which will be used to assess your comprehension and evaluation skills. Altogether, both passages will be about 700-750 words long.
• Expect questions like multiple choice, objective type, and short answer questions (40-50 words each).

Section B: Creative writing skills

• Notice (up to 50 words) – 4 Marks
• Formal/Informal invitation and reply (up to 50 words) – 4 Marks
• Letters (based on input, approx. 120-150 words) – 5 Marks
• Article/report Writing (120-150 words) – 5 Marks
